Turn stock about to expire into a nearby venue's win, not your write-off.

Opt-in matching between NUA venues: list surplus stock nearing expiry, or find surplus from venues near you.

Surplus Exchange setup guide
Estimated setup time: 10 min
Before you start
  • Inventory & Pantry set up
  • Enterprise plan or add-on
  • Opt-in decision — off by default
Setup steps
  1. 1

    Opt in

Enable Surplus Exchange under Inventory → Surplus Exchange. Off by default; nothing is shared until you turn it on.

  2. 2

    Set your radius

Choose how far away a matching venue can be, under Surplus Exchange → Settings.

  3. 3

    Set auto-listing rules

Choose which items list automatically as they approach expiry (e.g. within 48 hours) versus items you'll list manually.

  4. 4

    Review incoming matches

When a nearby venue lists something useful to you, NUA surfaces it under Surplus Exchange → Nearby.

  5. 5

    Agree exchange terms

Exchanges are arranged directly between venues — free, swap, or nominal cost — NUA just makes the match, not the transaction.

Tips
  • List early — the moment something is likely to be surplus, not once it's already at risk, gives a match more time to happen.
  • This gets more useful as more venues in your area opt in — early on, treat it as a bonus, not your primary waste-reduction plan.
  • Pair with Compliance Automation's expiry tracking so surplus listings trigger automatically off the same dates.
Troubleshooting
  • No nearby matches are showing.
Few or no other venues in your radius have opted in yet — try widening the radius under Surplus Exchange → Settings.
  • A listed item didn't get claimed in time.
Shorten the auto-listing window so items list further ahead of their expiry, giving matches more time to happen.
